What to include on a roofing invoice
Price by the square
A roofing square is 100 square feet, and both homeowners and adjusters think in squares. Listing square counts makes your bill easy to compare against the estimate.
Add the insurance claim number
For storm jobs, include the claim number, carrier and date of loss. Insurers often need the final invoice before releasing recoverable depreciation.
Document supplements separately
Hidden damage like rotten decking should appear as its own line, ideally referencing photos. Adjusters are more likely to approve a supplement they can trace.
Name the shingle product and warranty
Write the manufacturer line, color and warranty tier. The homeowner will need it for future claims or when selling the property.

Payment terms for roofing invoices
Our suggestion: Deposit at material delivery, balance on completion; insurance jobs paid as checks are released.
Sample terms you can paste into the invoice: “Balance due within 10 days of completion or upon receipt of insurance funds, whichever comes first. Workmanship warranted for 5 years. Unpaid balances may result in a lien where permitted by law.”

Roofing invoice FAQ
Can a roofer waive the insurance deductible on an invoice?
In many states, offering to waive or absorb a homeowner's deductible is illegal and can be treated as insurance fraud. Texas and several other states have specific laws on this. Bill the full amount and let the homeowner pay their deductible.
How do roofers invoice when insurance pays in two checks?
Insurers often pay actual cash value first and release recoverable depreciation after receiving proof the work is complete. Send a final invoice matching the approved scope plus supplements so the homeowner can submit it. Clear line items speed that release.
Should a roofing invoice include a warranty?
It's wise to state both your workmanship warranty and the manufacturer's material warranty. Customers frequently look for this document years later. Keep the wording short and refer to your contract for full conditions.
